Adding Title Tags, Keyword Meta Tags, and Description Meta Tags To Your Website

Uploaded by onlineweb4u

I just did a redesign of our LRS Consulting website and just noticed that I forgot to include some of the meta tags on one of our pages, so I thought I’d take this chance to show you how easy it is to add meta tags to your website using our online website builder at onlineweb4u.com. Meta tags are a critical element to consider when you want your website to be found by the search engines for the keywords you think are important to your business.

All you have to do is log into the editor, find the page you want to edit, and then click the edit icon. You’ll see when you arrive on the edit page that there will be a tab labelled Internet Marketing – that’s the tab you’ll want to select to input your meta data.

So you’ll see four boxes: HTML Title Tag, Keywords, Description, and Head. For the purposes of this tip, we won’t be talking about the head tags, just about the first three.

The HTML Title Tag box is the most important. This is where you want to give your page a descriptive title using your appropriate keywords. This title appears in the top bar of the web browser, and is also the title that will appear when the page is shown in search results for Google, Yahoo all the other search engines.

The Keyword section is probably the least important because spammers have abused it so much in the past that the major search engines don’t give it much weight anymore, but some of the smaller search engines will still look at it and it certainly won’t hurt your rankings to include your keywords here so you might as well. Make sure to separate each keyword or phrase with commas. These keywords won’t appear anywhere on your site, accept in the coding.

The Description section by contrast still has an important impact on search results. It won’t show up anywhere on your page, but it will show up in search results under the title depending on the search term. Sometimes Google will pull random bits of text from your website to display as your site description, but more times than not it looks to the description you provide. This is where you’ll want to describe what your site is all about, again, incorporating your keywords as much as naturally possible.

And once you’re done that, you’re done. Just click the save button and load up your page to view your changes.

How to Add Anchor Text to Links

It's really very simple to add anchor text to your links and it's an important step to help your website get noticed by the search engines if you use keywords properly. Anchor text is what I like to refer as hover text or the words that pop up when you hold your mouse over some links. Just mouse over this link to our online web builder at onlineweb4u.com. You should see the words "Online Website Builder" appear.

If a normal link looks like this:

a href="http://www.onlineweb4u.com/">onlineweb4u.com

All you have to do is add:

title="Online Website Builder"

between the a and href. So your finished product will look like this:

a title="Online Website Builder" href="http://www.onlineweb4u.com/">onlineweb4u.com
